Jim Ousley & Oscar Madrid
In 2003, Oscar Madrid and Jim Ousley collaborated on the story and screenplay that became their first independent feature film, Hooch & Daddy-O. In 2005, the film debuted on the festival circuit at the Dixie Film Festival in Atlanta. Hooch & Daddy-O won the award for “Outstanding Original Story/Screenplay” as well as earning nominations for “Best Feature” and “Best Comedy.” Hooch & Daddy-O was one of only three feature films selected and screened along with The Sisters starring Chris O’Donnell, Maria Bello, Eric McCormack, and Rip Torn.
In 2006, Hooch & Daddy-O again earned honors, this time at the Faux Film Festival in Portland, winning the prestigious “Audience Award”. In June of 2006, Hooch & Daddy-O won the “Best Comedy” award at the Planet Ant Film & Video Festival in Detroit. The award was voted on by a jury of industry professionals including: Keegan-Michael Key (“Mad TV” Fox), Larry Joe Campbell (“According to Jim” CBS), Nyima Funk (“Wild ‘N Out” MTV), and Josh Funk (“Wild N’ Out” MTV).
Hooch & Daddy-O has been featured on The Independent Film Channel, MySpace Film, and has screened to audiences at the Delray Beach Film Festival, Alameda International Film Festival, Cackalacky Film Festival, Calgary Fringe Film Festival, S.N.O.B. Film Festival, Midwest Urban Film Festival, Southern Fried Flicks Film Festival, Night Gallery Film Festival, Wichita Falls Film Fest, and the DNA Film Festival at Atom Egoyan’s Camera Bar in Toronto.
